Strength In Strides is dedicated to improving physical and emotional well-being in individuals and families through trauma-informed functional strength training, movement education, and therapeutic interventions. We aim to reduce injury, improve emotional regulation, athletic performance and support healthy family systems by integrating neuromuscular training with mental health-informed practices. Strength In Strides promotes fitness and play while nourishing healthy family habits for individuals and families, with a focus on increasing access to integrated physical and emotional wellness support for children, families, and those impacted by trauma.

We envision a community where individuals and families have equitable access to trauma-informed movement, strength training and wellness education, empowering them to regulate emotions, break cycles of intergenerational trauma, prevent injury, and thrive physically and psychologically across the lifespan.

Janell Elise Arroyo is the founder of Strength in Strides, Inc. and The Complexity of Healing (501(c)(3)), where she integrates mental health, movement science, and trauma-informed care to support whole-person healing. She is a psychotherapist with a unique foundation as a Certified Functional Strength Coach, bringing years of experience in the fitness industry into her clinical work.

Janell earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Northwestern University, where her research and capstone explored the integration of Strengths-Based Therapy with strength-based movement practices. Her work examined how physical strength development can complement therapeutic processes supporting empowerment, embodiment, and a more grounded sense of self, particularly as clients prepare for the transition and closure of therapy.

She specializes in psychosomatic and mind-body approaches, focusing on how trauma and chronic stress are experienced and expressed through both the brain and body. By integrating neuromuscular awareness with therapeutic intervention, Janell helps individuals reconnect with their bodies, build resilience, and engage in healing as both a psychological and physical process.

Through her work, Janell is redefining care as an integrated experience that bridges the gap between physical strength, nervous system regulation, and emotional well-being.
