Aesthetics vs Healthy Living
I came into the Fitness Industry as an athlete. Worked all over, however when I came into the private studio segment, where people are running their own businesses…aesthetics was everything.
I walked in and girls had bulging muscles super defined, huge butts and huge boobs…but no smiles. Naturally I felt I wasn’t on my fitness game…this is my “competition.” Here I am coming in basketball shorts and my j’s like…anyone wanna play ball?
I needed to step up my game! These girls are probably so successful because…I mean look at them! They are selling on their bodies. I even went through a little bit of sadness and was doing double days, just to catch up. I was tired and sad. This is what I had to look like…this is what people want. Then I had to sit back and do some research.
I first had to ask myself…Janell before this was your profession, why did you work out. I said 1) to look good in my clothes 2) to be healthy 3) increase energy and work production 4) stay active in my sports. 5) Improve overall quality of life!
Exactly! I want people especially women to understand…these “perfect” women aren’t so perfect. A lot of the women that look like the common misconception of “being healthy” are not natural.
They have very low body fat % which messes up their organs especially their reproductive organs, causing them not to get regular menstrual cycles. Taking too many supplements can aid in this and or also lead to other complications involving kidney/liver failure, with all these chemicals….unnatural.
PERCENT FAT STANDARDS:
|
MEN:
Essential body fat: 3-5%
Athletic: 5-13%
Recommended (34 years or less) 8-22%
Recommended (35-55 years): 10-25%
Recommended (more than 56years): 10-25%
As women we cannot go below a certain amount of body fat percentage, and yes or go over. So now that there is hardly any body fat…they have lost their breasts. This where the implants come in. Also at times they are completely carb depleted which drastically lowers glycogen levels (sugars) …and they are in shitty moods.
I am not going to judge people’s training and nutrition strategies or philosophies. Especially if you are training for something and/or an athlete and this is your money…how you get paid.
I just want people to know everyBODY is different. All goals aren’t the same…and switch or progress. I don’t want people going around getting on crazy supplements and diets just to look like theses supplement models. Let’s remember…we exercise to stay healthy, be productive at work and improve overall quality of life. People often come up to me and tell me I always have a smile on my face and I am super friendly. I believe in bettering your quality of life…let’s face it we don’t know when our time is up. I have trained my metabolism…I do eat healthy and meal prep. However, I am human…I never deny my body of what it wants…I do modify. Restriction of foods will end up in over indulgence, everything in moderation and not every day. Yes, I do like wine, and cocktails, beer and chocolate, but I don’t have these things all the time. The next day…I need to work it off!!
This I how I live my life. Train hard, eat clean, stay healthy, be active and…save your indulging for fun times.
